Dan & Jan Numan started
Numan's
Dan started playing pool in high school, and in the Air Force he
improved his game enough to help support himself through college and to become a part time pro player on the
men's tour. He doesn't play as much anymore but is still a very formidable
player.
Jan also played for several years on the Women's Professional
Billiard Association ( WPBA) and was a member of the board of directors. The
logo for the WPBA was created by Jan the last year she played on the tour.

An engineer by trade, Dan worked for several large companies before moving
to East Tennessee with Texas Instruments. Jan opened the Chucky Trading Company Restaurant on the Nolichucky River in
1980. It was an almost immediate success and was a popular place to go for
18 years. Jan wanted to retire after having an automobile accident and
closed the restaurant on the river in 1998.
This building -in downtown Johnson City - became available in
1991 and Dan decided to expand the business and called it Chucky Trading
Company Downtown to include a new restaurant and
billiard center. He was already building pool tables and game room
furniture. With all the new businesses he soon gave up engineering and devoted himself to
developing Chucky downtown. When we closed the restaurant on the river and
sold the building We changed the name of the downtown business to
Numan's
